The Carpe Diem phase

You see a great film – like Dead Poet’s Society – or a new age Indian film where they talk about living life in the moment and seizing all opportunities to be happy. You might also see some film which says travelling is a good enough life ambition(really ?).
You are fuelled by desire and energy. You firmly resolve to make the most of what life has to offer.
The next few days you find hidden pleasures in everyday life. You are happy.
This phase lasts for two weeks.
Then the old routine falls back into place until next inspiration.

I find Memento Mori to be a better substitute. Memento Mori literally means “remember that you have to die”. It is a souvenir that reminds you of your immortality.
That perhaps makes us more appreciative of things and people around us.

But whenever you find yourself in either of these – the optimistic Carpe Diem phase (read Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara) or the slightly pessimistic- Memento Mori phase (read Kal Ho Na Ho) ;
make the best use of both these times.
Both will help you learn and grow.
